Local Hunting

This Page is all about my adventurers around the good old USA

Fall of 2013 was dry..only had a chances to take the dogs out..so far not so good on quail I have gotten into chukar like ever time I have been out..Not a lot of them but any birds are better than none.

It is Nov of 012 and my shooting year is almost over. So that means it has cooled down and the rattle snakes are bedded down for a long winters rest and I will be able to run the dogs in the hills of NV after the wild Chuckar.
I have been out a few times after quail saw a few but so far 0 for the farm. I have tried a few times for chuckar I have gotten a few (2).
But now it has been raining for 2 days and will for the next few, now that it has rained and snowed the birds will be spread out and be harder to find.
I will be heading over to Northern Ca to hunt geese with my buddy Al. I am going to hard our lab Carson along to see if he can handle a goose? I will have pics for you in a few weeks.

Riley says good job dad one point one shot

Carson Says yes but I had to retrieve it LOL
Well it is the end of 2011..dogs where getting a wee bit antsy so I took them out looking for quail. Had my 28ga O/U with me water and a few snacks so up the hill we want. No quail but I did get a chuckar that Riley pointed way cool.
I think next we will take a day off and head up north to get into the chuckar big time, as long the the weather stays dry.
I had a good day on the 14th..I was a wee bit wore out last night to add to my blogg. But feeling better today, dogs are still a wee bit sleepy. Riley is turning into a bird finding machine he had 5 great points on chuckers.. oh did I say wild chuckers!! I do need to work with Carson our yellow lab to sit when Riley goes on point as he want in and busted the first covey that Riley pointed.
I will say it was a real work out going up and down the hills and walking over the lava rocks to get to the birds. But with the great points I was very happy and tried.. Maybe a little quail hunting this weekend.
Well 2011 started off with a few good Dove shoots, Carson made some good retrieves and even Riley found a bird by the last shoot

Oct 2011Looking forward to opening weekend for Quail and Chuckar we plan on making a weekend out of it.

Sept 2010...I got to Help Paul Laird with his Antelope hunt on my way home from the Zone 7 shoot in Id.  We got to Kings Valley Monday afternoon late, set up Paul's trailer and had a nice supper and hit the sack. 7am Tuesday I dropped Paul off at one of the Alfalfa pivots, By 9am Paul had a nice buck down with a 250 yard shot with a 90gr 223, 9:30 am it was in the truck ready to head home. (still waiting to get my taste of stakes)

Oct 2011 Looking good for this hunting year Paul and I opened the season with a bang we each got a sage hen and a bunch of Chukars. So far I have been running into a lot of quail and having a blast.
