As I said on my home page my year is winding down the party is over turn off the light so to say.
I am sorry but I never did get time to host a target setting class this year maybe in 2013. Yeap
Let me tell you about the shoots I set this year I have some pics and a small write up below about about the western reg shoot held at CHHC in Ca
The US Open in MN was a very good shoot to work Randy Voss is a great guy to work for he shows you the area you have to work and tells you have at it. He trusts what you do and lets you to it. I think I sett  four layouts as different as you could. I did have issues to deal with like shot fallout to the main road and shot fall onto the blue main course but with Ed Virgil's help we got that all mapped up and the shoot want off well for 6 days. I also set the white main and a few said it was a tad soft but the shooters all had fun and that is what mattered.
I was off to Ohio to set the Fitasc and the main for there state shoot. I must say it was a lot of work to set the Fitasc for less than 50 shooters, but the fun thing was that I got to use 6 traps per layout which was cool, I did set them a wee bit to hard but most where happy with the layout. The sporting was very good with 15 stands both days. The fun thing was Randy Lawrence from Sporting Clays Mag did a three page story on me about my target setting. It is in the Oct 2012 issue.
From the Ohio shoot I was off to the World Fitasc Shoot at the Northbrook Gun Club in IL. I was given the honor of setting the 50 target Fitasc prelim and one layout of the main. The shooters as a whole seemed happy and I was able to see many of my friends from all over the world.
Before I headed home I finished my trip in MI at Hunters Creek with the Shoot for a cure crew it is a really nice club with friendly people.
I was home for a few weeks than I was on my way to HI at Lani Pines with the Shoot For A Cure crew. I came home Saturday  and was on a plane Sunday to San Antonio for the Nationals. The Nationals has to be my favorite shoot of the year to shoot or to work. The crew down there really knows how to put on a shoot!! I got to sett the Fitasc with Neil Chadwick  he sett layouts 1&4 and I sett 2&3. We had many complements on the Fitasc. I also got to sett the K-cup which I will admit was a wee bit softer than I was thinking it was. But than there where all the top shooters at the event and all the rest of the shooters seemed very happy and I was told by many shooters that they had fun..

My dates for 2012 are getting set in stone

The Western Reg shoot is water under the dam. I set the Fitasc and my friend Gibben Miles won it by running the last 2 layouts to shoot a 97 wow!!

I sett the red course main with the help of Matt and Dave from Quail Point high was a 99 and that was impressive.

I am thinking about putting on a target setting class this year watch for date and club.
I will teach you the basics of a what makes a good target and why with hands on training.
Remember keep them Fair.. Keep them Fun and keep them challenging.
That is the foundation of my target setting school and that is also the way I sett targets and also what I look for when I go to a tournament.
What do I mean by keep them fair? No need to throw black targets below the tree line. And of course the edgy target is a no no. You don't need to try and beat shooters with distance 40-45 should be the limit in sporting. Quartering away.. man am I sick of seeing that target, you will see it in sporting and way to much in Fitasc. I could go on and on.
Keep them fun? You really need to have a understanding of what you can do with a target so you can do interesting things with that target.
Keep them challenging? You are not shooting trap or skeet! I think you need to push the limit a little to keep it fun and to keep shooters from falling asleep.
More to come....
